2023 - Annual ACE Conference in Edinburgh

We are pleased to announce that the next ACE conference will be hosted by Mike Walker and Jenny Haydock (CMA) in Edinburgh.

The event is scheduled to take place on the 16th and 17th of November 2023.
Nathan Miller kindly accepted our invitation to be the key note speaker. The plenary sessions will focus on burning antitrust topics, such as the link between antitrust and media, the Commission’s announced guidelines on exclusionary abuses and the current status and future considerations regarding digital mergers.
But of course, the most distinctive characteristic of the ACE-conference, are its parallel case sessions. So we hereby also launch our yearly call for competition cases to be presented.
When applying, please include in your submission the following information:
• A brief (1-2 pages) summary of the main facts of the case, its main economic aspects and the reasons why the case may be of particular interest to competition economists.
• A suggestion of economists from the competition agency, the private sector and academia to present and discuss the case.
Please verify beforehand whether both the competition agency and at least one of the consultancy agencies involved agree on presenting the case at ACE.
• All publicly available material (decisions, reports, papers) as well the language of the decision.

Please only select a case that is not subject to potential litigation actions, or where these potential actions will not affect the possibility to present the case at the conference.
The deadline for submission of case proposals is the 30th of June.

2022 - Annual ACE Conference in Lisbon

The ACE 2022 conference will take place on the 17th and 18th of November 2022, in Lisbon.
The conference will be an in-person event.
The Keynote speech will be delivered by Nancy Rose (MIT Economics). Further information on the program will follow soon.

The conference will take place in the Sheraton Lisboa Hotel, Rua Latino Coelho, 1 Lisbon, Portugal 1069.

Future Conferences

ACE is always looking for potential proposals to host its annual conference and aims to decide upon the venue at the annual conference at least one year in advance. Successful bids will need to demonstrate that they have suitable arrangements (including sponsorship) in place by then. Typically ACE is hosted in universities and receives support from the economics departments, and/or local sponsors such as the competition authorities.

On the 18th and 19th of November 2021, the ACE (Association of Competition Economics) conference took place in Barcelona, hosted by Massimo Motta at the Barcelona School of Economics.
